Writing your first novel is not the same as simply “writing a novel,” because a debut is always an arrival—an announcement of a voice that has been gathering pressure for years before the page ever appeared. In this series of craft sessions, I’ll be guiding you through the process of harnessing and structuring the singular energy of the first novel. Along the way, we’ll also touch on some of the basics: showing not telling; incorporating backstory into dialogue; thinking within and outside the bounds of genre; and all the while allowing the voice to flourish. Join me on January 6th for an intensive and collaborate workshop for writers at all stages of their journey.
